Daughter of a European-trained seamstress, Irene has been sewing since she was given her first fashion doll. The year she turned 17, she sewed a lavender, lined, lace dress for the mother of a bride-to-be. Top seamstress for two consecutive years in High School, Irene was encouraged by her instructor to pursue a career in fashion.
While raising her four children, Irene began her own decorating company – Beautiful Rooms by Irene – providing decorating and staging services for many clients. Increasingly, she was approached by those clients needing “other” sewing done. In 2011, Irene decided to return to her high school love and focus more of her attention on the sewing aspect of her company and 8 months later, in 2012, Denim and Lace was born. Since then, Irene has been kept busy with graduation and wedding garments, uniforms, casual wear and home decor…anything fabric! “The best job ever!”, she is known to declare.
